1. For Virtual Money
A boy (13) in Hanoi, Vietnam, wants virtual money in his online gaming account. Without thinking twice, the game-addicted child chose to rob and kill an 81-year-old grandmother on a street. Surprisingly, this child even buried his grandmother's body near his family's house.
Speculation is circulating, this child wants virtual money for the game 'World of Warcraft'. The boy then succeeded in looting 100,000 Dong or if converted into rupiah it would only be around Rp. 63,000. Cheap, but to the point of killing people.
2. Game Matters, Children Become Victims
In England, James Dearman asked his children to go to bed one Christmas Eve at around 7:30 pm. James and his wife were playing video games and their children wanted to watch them. For no apparent reason, James, who weighs around 167 kg, sits on his 6 year old son until he has difficulty breathing.
Witnessed by his other children, Dearman did not realize that his actions were very harmful to the child. After realizing that his son was unconscious, Dearman just 'gained his sanity back' and called 911. Unfortunately, it was too late. The child was pronounced dead on arrival at the hospital.
3. Ending Life for the sake of being with an idol character
In China, a boy is very fond of the game World of Warcraft. His favorite character is Elf which he created himself. However, his parents were not happy with his son's behavior in playing the computer, which took too long.
On December 27, 2004, this child decided to jump from the 24th floor through a window. Innocently, this kid believes that by ending his life, he can meet his favorite character. In fact, he even said 'goodbye' to several players in the game before logging out.
4. Game Above All
This story comes from South Korea, where a couple of lovers are addicted to playing games in an internet cafe and forget their children. They go to the internet cafe to play 'Prius Online' and take care of their virtual child. However, the children in the real world are abandoned. The 3 month old baby was left with only powdered milk and appeared to be malnourished.
After 12 hours of non-stop gaming, the couple headed home. Sadly, the innocent baby was found unconscious and no longer breathing.
5. Died After Playing the Game 50 Hours
Still from South Korea, a man played the game 'Starcraft' for up to 50 hours without stopping. He died suddenly after. However, even though he was taken to the hospital, this man died of heart failure as the cause of death.
