Samsung Galaxy S23 And Galaxy S23+ Launched With Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 For Galaxy

The Samsung Galaxy S23 and Galaxy S23+ were officially launched this morning and are two of a trio of devices under the Galaxy S23 series this year. At a glance no significant difference can be seen in these two models compared to this year's model.

The biggest difference in terms of design is that the Contour Cut big camera bump is no longer replaced by a new Floating Camera design. This year all three Galaxy S23 series devices use the Floating Camera design so that everything looks consistent.

We start with the Samsung Galaxy S23 equipped with a 6.1″ Dynamic AMOLED 120HZ FHD+ screen that supports HDR10+ display. There is a Vision Booster feature that ensures the image remains clear in various lighting situations. This screen however is not of the LTPO type which can drop the refresh rate down to 1Hz. With Gorilla Glass Victus 2, the screen of the device becomes even more resistant to shocks.

The Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 For Galaxy chip is used paired with 8GB LPDDR5X memory, up to 256GB UFS 4.0 storage and a 3900 mAh battery that supports a 25W charger. This is a 200mAh increase over last year's S22. This is done because the body of the S23 is not only more boxy but also thicker. The body still has IP68 waterproof and dustproof capabilities.

The main camera consists of a 50MP wide-angle lens, a 12MP ultra-wide-angle and a 10MP telephoto up to 3X optically. On the front, a 12MP camera is used for selfies. Only the front camera is upgraded from 10 to 12MP while the three main cameras are the same as last year.

Like the S23, the S23+ also received an increase in battery capacity of 200mAh which makes the body thicker. It passes IP68 waterproof and dustproof standards.

While the cameras are still the same, Samsung now offers Expert RAW support on both devices with photos being taken at a larger 50MP resolution.

Both devices use One UI 5.1 which is based on Android 13. The color choices are Black, Cotton, Green, and Violet. The selling price of Galaxy S23 and Galaxy S23+ in Malaysia is;
