WhatsApp Is Testing Voice To Text Message Transcript Feature

Android and iOS have already introduced the feature of audio transcription from video to text to further facilitate communication between users or to help users who are hearing impaired.

Some apps also offer this feature built-in, if the device manufacturer still doesn't offer this feature. Interestingly, a feature like this works without an Internet connection and all data is stored into the device and not uploaded to the application server or the device manufacturer. All processing also takes place from within the device.

Recently, WhatsApp was seen testing the voice-to-text message transcription feature for iOS. WABetaInfo shared a screenshot of this feature, where text cannot be generated if there are no clear words from the voice message and the voice message does not match the language setting on the app.

For now, it is still uncertain when this feature will be introduced. Either limited to iOS and specific countries or will also be offered to Android users and distributed worldwide.
