WhatsApp is working on three new features that will make it even easier for users. One of them is the feature to send 100 photos at once.
These features were discovered by WABetaInfo in WhasApp Beta for Android and iOS. One of the features has been released for a number of beta testers, while the other two are still in the development stage so they are not yet available.
Here are three new features that are being tested by WhatsApp, as quoted from WABetaInfo, Thursday (9/2/2023).
1. Submit 100 photos
Currently WhatsApp allows users to send 30 media (photos, videos and GIFs) at once. Thanks to this new feature, that capability is increased to 100 media at a time.
The feature to submit 100 media is already available for some beta testers. To find out if you have got this feature, just try selecting more than 30 media in the media picker. If you haven't been able to send more than 30 media, please wait until the next update.
2. Schedule a group call
WhatsApp is also working on a new feature that will allow users to schedule calls within groups. Thanks to this feature, users can schedule calls in advance with other group members so they don't have to bother reminding them.
From the screenshot shared by WABetaInfo, users can set the title, date and time for the call. Group members will get notifications when the call is scheduled and when the call starts.
Currently the call scheduler feature is still under development. It is not yet known when this feature will be available for beta testers, and will be rolled out to all users.
3. Voicemail transcription
In September 2021, WABetaInfo reported that WhatsApp was developing a feature to transcribe voice messages into text. But not long after that they announced the development of that feature had been discontinued for unknown reasons.
Now, the feature is back in the works and found in WhatsApp beta for iOS version 23.3.0.73. However, this feature is still under development and not yet available for beta testers.
From the screenshots shared by WABetaInfo, WhatsApp is developing a warning screen to explain when the transcription feature is not available. Audio transcription will not be available if there are no recognizable words in the voicemail or it is in a different language.
This transcription is performed locally on the user's device by downloading the required language pack. Voice messages will not be shared with WhatsApp or Apple so only the user will be able to hear the voice message content.
