Since Google TV was introduced many Android TV devices and televisions have been sidelined for not receiving updates that provide more or less the same features and functionality. Instead users should buy a dongle or a television running Google TV to really enjoy this brand new smart television experience.
Recently, one of the features almost identical to Google TV is given to Android TV users which is user profile support.
Just different from Google TV, profiles on Android TV are more about switching between different Google accounts only with all apps and content on the TV staying with the main account.
This account switch allows the Discover tab on Android TV to suggest content according to different accounts if one television is shared among many people. But it's a shame if you open Netflix, Disney+ or other video streaming platforms the main Google account profile will be displayed by default.
