NVIDIA Launches RTX VSR That Upgrades Video Streaming Quality On Web Browsers

The problem with ever-larger TVs is that the majority of content that can be viewed via streaming services is still below 4K UHD resolution. On YouTube there are hundreds of millions of videos at sub FHD resolution. If you have a 4K screen though, the video you watch will look broken. NVIDIA has therefore launched the RTX Video Super Resolution (VSR) feature today which upgrades the quality of video viewed on the Chrome and Edge web browsers.

RTX Video Super Resolution analyzes the video being watched before using artificial intelligence to automatically upgrade its quality to 4K UHD. This is the same technology used by NVIDIA to upgrade the visuals of video games.

The good news here is that the difference in video quality is noticeable. The bad news is that you need to have a computer equipped with GeForce RTX 40 and RTX 30 GPUs to enjoy RTX VSR. Update the driver software for your GPU and make sure Chrome version 110.0.5481.105 or Edge version 110.0.1587.56 is used.
