Pico 4 Pro Concept Shown at GDC 2023 – May Come With Custom Finishes

The Game Developers Conference event is an annual event that brings together various players in the gaming industry, both from developer studios, accessory brands, and also infrastructure providers and many more. One of the more active brands in gaming is Pico, which has been offering virtual reality headsets since 2015.

Now approaching 2023, Pico, which is now owned by Bytedance, has given other virtual reality headsets a tough competition, as it is offered at a lower price than others. At this Game Developer Conference event, they have exhibited the Pico 4 Pro concept design at their booth.

If you look at the concept design of this Pico 4 Pro, it doesn't look the same as the Pico 4 that was just sold in November 2022, but it shows some differences, especially in terms of finish, color and also the use of materials. For each component found on this device, there are up to 8 concept variations on display.

In terms of finish and color, it may not change any use for the device, but in terms of the materials used, there are several options that may be available to users. As an example for the user's face cushion, there are three material concepts for it. There are even materials that use 3D printed materials that have various cavities, which can help release heat from the skin.

There is also the use of materials that can absorb the sweat of the user's face, and a combination of materials that can solve the problem of facial sweat and heat from the user. This is also in line with Pico's idea of wanting users to feel comfortable while using their virtual reality headset.

In addition to that, there is also a finish using chrome (chrome) which looks elegant and stands out. There is also a face cushion option that brings a bright orange color, as if diving goggles. Some materials for the back of the head are also on display, giving an idea of how customizable the Pico 4 Pro might be.

There is currently no indication of when the Pico 4 Pro will go on sale in the market, or what variety of designs in terms of colors, materials, and finishes consumers will be able to choose from, but judging by the response of the GDC event attendees to it, we may be able to see this virtual reality device. announced its sale this year.
