Instagram Shows 5 Algorithms Used On Users' Timeline

Algorithms on IG are not very popular lately because they tend to suggest video content. Only recently they said they will focus on the balance between pictures and videos. Instagram also shared that they have their own 5 algorithms.

Each part of Instagram, namely Feed, Stories, Explore, Reels and Search, uses its own algorithm to suggest content to users. On the Feed, which is the main page of IG, see how users interact with something shared such as Like, comment, share, save or location.

In addition, the frequency of interacting with other users is also monitored. With the accumulated data, the display on the Feed is from the accounts that are followed and that IG predicts will be of interest to the user.

Stories are also more or less the same, only focusing on videos from whose accounts and the frequency of interactions such as Likes, comments and shares. Explore is also the same only with the addition of user activity history information and location.

Reels is similar to what TikTok does. Information about the type of video, whose account, frequency of interaction, usage patterns will all be used to ensure that the videos that come out are always in line with the user's interests.

Instagram also encourages users to add accounts to favorite lists, can snooze the display of content for 30 days, mute users they don't like but still want to follow, frequently answer their surveys, hide shares and more.

It is clear here that the Instagram algorithms are completely dependent on the user. It's just that it's difficult for us to know if it's true that this algorithm works. Mozilla's study found that the dislike and not interested buttons on YouTube do not work. what do you say
