The Parliament Building Will Use Solar Energy Starting 2024

By June 2024, the Malaysian Parliament plans to use solar energy in its operations as a step to drive a more sustainable environment in energy generation. This step is in line with the idea of zero-net carbon emissions that Malaysia wants to achieve by 2050.

According to the Speaker of the House of Representatives Tan Sri Johari Abdul, the arrangement will be expedited by the Public Works Department (JKR) to complete the tender process for the implementation of the project. Through this effort, it will be the Malaysian Parliament among the first to apply solar energy efforts to the administrative conference.

This filing will also directly encourage other government departments and agencies to join efforts to use renewable energy - which is more environmentally friendly and helps develop the country's green initiatives.
