More than 9000 Electric Vehicles have been Registered in Malaysia in 2023

Over the past few years, focus has been given to the use of electric vehicles which are said to be more environmentally friendly. Touching on it, now it is shared that more than 9000 new electric vehicles have been registered throughout 2023.

In total, since last year 2011, there have been more than 12,000 electric vehicles registered so far. This figure simultaneously shows a surge in the purchase and use of electric cars among local consumers - which may become a trend in the coming years.

However, if compared to the overall number of registered vehicles, the transition to electric vehicles is still a long way off. As of the first ten months of 2023, a total of 647,000 vehicles have been registered in Malaysia.

The government is ready to implement several campaigns to encourage the transition to electric vehicles - including rebates for the purchase of electric motorcycles. The government itself aims for around 20% of car sales in Malaysia to be electric cars by 2030.
