NVIDIA To Open AI Data Center In Malaysia With YTL Cooperation

Today we reported that NVIDIA will open an AI data center in Johor. A while ago NVIDIA has confirmed that they are collaborating with YTL Power International Berhad to build an AI data center that will be operational by the middle of 2024. This will be one of the steps to make Malaysia an AI hub in Southeast Asia. NVIDIA has invested RM20 billion to build this AI data center.

This AI data center will be equipped with the NVIDIA H100 chip that powers the most AI data center

advanced today, and uses NVIDIA AI Enterprise software to streamline AI production.

The location chosen is YTL Green Data Center Park located in Kulai, Johor with a 500MW solar power station that offers a sustainable power source.

NVIDIA CEO, Jensen Huang has stated that Malaysia has "great companies" that can be good business partners to build data center infrastructure. Last March, Yes 5G (a subsidiary of YTL) offered access to the GeForce Now cloud gaming service to their customers. Not only that, in Malaysia the development of AI is also seen to be taken more seriously with a special faculty to be developed at UTM.
