Last month Threads started introducing hashtags to make it easier for users to find interesting topics discussed by other users. At that time it was only given to users in Australia. Today Adam Mosseri announced the hashtag feature is now rolling out to all users in English and Spanish speaking countries.
The implementation of hashtags in Threads is different from other platforms where when the "#" icon is used, Threads will suggest hot hashtags. After typing, the entire hashtag will be displayed in blue without the “#” in front of it. Hashtags can also contain more than one word and are not contiguous as in X for example. Another biggest difference is that only one hashtag can be used on one post at a time.
