Threads Finally Launched In Europe

Threads will finally be launched in Europe yesterday with the announcement made via an account by Mark Zuckerberg. The X-like messaging app was launched in other markets last July but not in Europe due to a bill on the strict use of personal data in the EU. For example Instagram user data cannot be simply transferred to Threads according to EU law.

To meet European requirements, Threads can be accessed without registering any account. But without an account, Threads are read-only without users being able to upload personal statuses. Europe is a huge market and if Threads launches the number of monthly active users can be dramatically increased by Meta.

So far Threads is said to have 100 million monthly active users. Various features such as accessed through the web, hashtag search, editing status posts and doing keyword searches have been introduced over the past few months.
