Intel Launches AI Chip For Automotive Use

A few weeks after launching the Intel Core Ultra series with NPUs that can run artificial intelligence (AI) built in, Intel announced that they will also offer AI chips for use in next-generation vehicles. This Software-Defined Vehicle (SDV) chip will consist of several chips that will be offered to customers depending on their needs.

With AI capabilities, the chip can perform tasks such as receiving voice commands better. run generative AI, conduct teleconferencing at high resolution and run PC games directly on the vehicle's infotainment system. Zeeker, a subsidiary of Geely, became the first manufacturer to use Intel's automotive AI chip

Also announced was Intel's acquisition of Silicon Mobility SAS which produces power control PSCs for EVs. Through algorithms, this chip can perform energy management for EVs more efficiently. SDV is not Intel's first chip for automotive use. They have long ventured into the automotive arena with Intel chips used in over 50 million vehicles worldwide at this point.
