Redmi Note 13 Series Update Is 3+4 Years For Pro And 2+2 Years For Normal

The Redmi Note 13 series has already been launched in Malaysia recently with prices starting at RM749 and reaching up to RM1,999. The most expensive model comes with IP68, a 1.5K 120Hz Dolby Vision screen, a 120W charger and a 200MP camera.

One disappointing thing is that all Redmi Note 13s still use MIUI 14 based on Android 13 instead of the latest Xiaomi HyperOS. For the global market the Poco X6 and Poco M6 Pro series are the first to use HyperOS. Despite this, Xiaomi still promises 3 years of Android version updates and 4 years of security patches for the Pro and Pro+ models, while the regular model is limited to 2 years of Android versions and 2 years of security patches.

TJ Walton as the product marketing manager shared with me that soon something related to HyperOS will be announced. He also answered why Redmi devices for the global market are loaded with a lot of ads;

"Hahahaha, we actually intend to give users the best user experience. The decision to place ads in MIUI 14 was decided by Xiaomi's superiors who often change even though we have not only ever promised MIUI without ads and free of fat applications. We will try our best and you can look forward to the next update announcement.”
