The current foldable screen phone is actually still expensive, even though it has been on the market since 2019. The Tecno Phantom V Flip is one of the most affordable at RM2999. Samsung was once reported to want to offer the Z Fold FE at a price of around RM2500. Recently, The Elec reported that the Galaxy Z Fold6 may have two versions which are affordable and premium.
Samsung is said to want to offer a cheaper variant of the Z Fold to compete with Chinese brands such as OnePlus, Oppo, vivo and Xiaomi. In China, Samsung devices are not popular enough and they want to try to dominate the country's market. Besides also wanting to change the design of the device to be thinner because the Z Fold5 is the thickest so far. There are no plans for an affordable Z Flip, as Samsung is said to be comfortable and confident in the clamshell device market.
Even so, sources say that Samsung is less confident in releasing the affordable Z Fold6. This is because they are worried if people will only choose the premium model and the affordable version will not sell or vice versa. Galazy Z Fold6 is expected to be launched in the middle of 2024, let's all look forward to it.
