Nokia And Vivo Sign 5G Patent Licensing Agreement

Nokia and Vivo signed a 5G patent licensing agreement today. An official statement said the agreement covers Nokia's fundamental inventions in cellular technology. In addition, Nokia will receive payments from Vivo for a period of several years, along with payments required to cover the duration of the dispute.

The action also resolved the dispute that existed between the two parties in the jurisdiction regarding the payment of the patent. However, the terms and conditions contained in the agreement remain confidential between the two parties only. It is also the sixth major smartphone deal that has been signed in 13 months.

To date, Nokia holds over 20,000 patents with over 6,000 of them related to 5G technology. For the record, Oppo also did the same at the end of January.
