WhatsApp is developing a new feature called 'Status Mention' that allows users to include other contacts in status updates. It looks similar to what can be done on Instagram Stories that also involves other contacts directly in their status. In addition to being able to improve the communication experience by ensuring certain contacts are aware of the relevant status.
It is not yet certain about the specific use. But what is shown any contact involved will receive a notification about the matter. For now it is still under development, and will be available in future updates without sharing a specific timeframe.
