Threads is expanding the spoiler tag feature, which was previously limited to text, to media content such as images and videos. This improvement is intended to protect users from inadvertently exposing sensitive or shocking information. Users can mark content as spoilers in a few simple steps:
For text – Select a section of text while writing a post and then press the Mark as Spoiler option.
For media content (images, videos, or GIFs) – Tap the three-dot icon on the content and select Mark as Spoiler.
Once marked, the content will be displayed in a blurred form. Other users can tap on the content to view it in full if they wish.
Interestingly, a single post can contain more than one spoiler. However, all hidden content is still subject to Threads’ guidelines. This means that users cannot hide content that is offensive or violates the platform’s rules even if it is marked as a spoiler.
This feature is especially useful for users who are actively discussing entertainment such as new movies or series. It allows them to share information without spoiling the surprise for others. At the same time, content creators are given greater control over how information is shared in the community.
Threads has started rolling out this feature to users in stages. If you don't see this option in your app yet, make sure to update Threads to the latest version to fully access it.
