Last week, Leica celebrated the 100th anniversary of its Leica-1 film camera at its headquarters in Wetzlar, Germany. Alongside the celebration, they also made a number of new announcements, including the introduction of their first 35mm film camera called the Leica MONOPAN 50 and updates to two of their camera models.
The two cameras are the Leica D-Lux 8 100 Years of Leica compact digital camera and the Leica Sofort 2 100 Years of Leica instant camera. Both cameras are still the same cameras that were launched previously, but they have been given an updated design, which resembles the design of the Leica-1 camera.
The Leica D-Lux 8 100 Years of Leica comes with the usual black frame, but the rubber parts on the camera body have been replaced with leather, while silver paint is seen covering the 24-75mm lens, dial and shutter button of the camera. Meanwhile, the 100 label is seen on the accessory tray cover on the top of this camera.
The Leica Sofort 2 100 Years of Leica comes with a black frame with silver paint covering the lens cap and shutter button along with the 100 Years of Leica logo on the top of this camera.
Local prices for these cameras have also been revealed. Leica Malaysia will be bringing in both models starting this week at the following prices:
Leica D-Lux 8 100 Years of Leica – RM9975
Leica Sofort 2 100 Years of Leica – RM2660
