The government is currently in the process of requiring a number of offerings and products under the electric vehicle ecosystem to have Sirim certification - while ensuring quality and safety. Among the things that will require the verification of this Series in Malaysia are electric vehicle batteries, and also electric vehicle charging stations.
Sharing about it, Sirim said verification and certification of Sirim will be mandatory for facilities related to electric vehicles in about two years. For now, it has not been powered yet in an effort to develop the ecosystem of electric vehicles in Malaysia.
In addition to the safety factor, Sirim will also ensure that the various charging port offerings are parallel in Malaysia, and comply with international standards.
Today, there are around 2020 electric vehicle charging stations, and there are over 100,000 electric vehicles registered in Malaysia.
