Google Wallet Now Requires At Least Android 9

Google Wallet went viral last week with the support of more and more local banks allowing non-cash payments to be made without a physical card. Recently the Google Wallet application has been updated and the minimum operating system requirements have also been changed.

Now you need to have a device with at least Android 9 or Wear OS 2.0 to continue using Google Wallet. When it launches in 2022, the operating system required is only Android 5.2. This minimum operating system requirement will be effective from June 10, 2024.

For owners of devices that are almost 7 years old (Android 8 Oreo was launched in 2017), now is the time to buy a new one because Google Wallet is no longer usable.
