This week X/Twitter officially changed the service's guidelines by officially allowing pornographic content to be uploaded by users. This action further strengthens the rumors that Elon Musk will soon introduce a subscription feature for adult content that will allow users to generate income.
Yesterday the Minister of Communications, Fahmi Fadzil said the government sees X's actions as violating the country's laws and is not allowed at all. Malaysia will extend the government's firm view on this issue to party X later. He however did not issue a statement on whether X might be banned in Malaysia if it continues to allow pornographic content to be displayed.
Even if Malaysia's stance is conveyed to X, we predict no changes will be made by the company owned by Elon Musk. He has repeatedly stated that X is the best platform for freedom of expression to the extent that it allows racist, violent and dangerous content to be displayed without any restrictions compared to other social media platforms.
