Transport Minister Anthony Loke has now shared that the government is planning to introduce a special number plate frame for electric vehicles - at the same time distinguishing it from existing internal combustion engine vehicles on the market. This step is expected to make it easier to differentiate between electric vehicles and normal vehicles, compared to the proposed use of a special registration number for electric vehicles.
Previously, this plan was put forward in an effort to facilitate rescue work by the Fire and Rescue Department to distinguish between electric vehicles and internal combustion engine vehicles in the event of any accident or fire.
This special plate frame is expected to be installed directly by the vehicle manufacturer when the vehicle is purchased, before the vehicle is handed over to the buyer. For now, the full info regarding it has not been shared yet, and is expected to be announced in the near future.
