Google will begin displaying labels on content generated using artificial intelligence (AI) in Google Search and Google Ads. The "About this image" label can be pressed to get more detailed information about the image currently being viewed on the device's screen.
All images generated using AI and tagged using C2PA and SynthID metadata standards will have this label. Google just joined C2PA this year with Adobe, Microsoft, Sony, Meta, BBC, ARM, Intel, TruPic and Twitter also joining. It was established to develop industry standards for identifying and labeling content generated by generative AI.
AI label support will not only appear in Google Search but also in Google Images, Lens and Circle to Search in the coming months. Generative AI generated images have started flooding the internet and the main issue is that more and more people are being fooled by these fake images to their detriment.
