Good news for wrestling fans in Malaysia because as we reported two days ago, WWE content will be offered live on Netflix starting January 7, 2005. Initially, we reported that only Smackdown, RAW and NXT content would be offered.
But today Netflix confirmed that premium live event (PLE) content such as Wrestlemania, Royal Rumble and SummerSlam along with selected content from the WWE archive will also be offered to all global users. Users in the United States will not receive the same offer as WWE PLE content will remain on Peacock.
Under the agreement between Netflix and TKO (WWE's parent company) involving $5 billion over 10 years, Netflix is also entering the sports streaming arena after so far only dabbling in streaming comedy events and soon the Screen Actors' Guild awards. Just a few weeks ago they offered the Mike Tyson vs. Jake Paul boxing event until streaming was disrupted due to too much traffic.
