America has finally begun steps to use a bill to ban the use of the DeepSeek application on government-owned devices. The bill, which was drafted, received support from government and opposition representatives yesterday, with the ban being carried out on the basis of ensuring national security.
So far, only NASA and the US Navy have issued orders banning the use of this artificial intelligence (AI) model from China on devices owned by employees and members. If the bill is passed, the US will follow the steps of Taiwan, South Korea and Australia, which have already banned the use of DeepSeek on government-owned devices.
The proposed bill is less extreme than a bill proposed by a senator earlier this week that wants to ban DeepSeek from the United States outright. He also asked for up to 20 years in prison, a $1 million fine for individuals and $100 for companies.
