Leading analyst Ming-Chi Kuo has now released his latest prediction that Apple's first foldable phone will be launched in late 2026 or early 2027. According to him, the device will have a 5.5″ outer screen and a 7.8″ inner screen, which puts it on par with an Oppo Find N that has a 5.49″ and 7.1″ screens.
The screen will not have a noticeable folding effect according to Kuo while the body and hinge are made of titanium material. When folded, the device is between 9 – 9.5 mm thick and when opened, it is 4.5 -4.8 mm thick. The device will also only be equipped with two main cameras on the back and only one selfie camera on the outer screen. According to these specifications, it is still thicker and smaller when compared to the Oppo Find N5 which is currently the thinnest book-shaped foldable screen device on the market.
Kuo previously said that Apple's foldable device is more like an iPad Mini and his latest report is in line with the original prediction. What's surprising this time is that Kuo says that Apple will offer this foldable device at a price of $2000 (~RM 8800) each.
Apple has been very slow to enter the foldable device market, which is now almost entering its seventh year. After seven years, the market for devices in this segment has become increasingly flat with high selling prices causing it to be less popular with the public.
If it is true that Apple wants to sell their device at a price of around $2000, it will be the most expensive for a dual-fold design. The record for the most expensive foldable device price is still held by the Huawei Mate XT Ultimate Design which reaches RM14,999 (~ $3490) each.
