Duolingo to Use AI to Replace Contract Workers

Duolingo says it will start replacing human workers in tasks that AI can do. The approach aims to make Duolingo an AI-first company in an effort to increase productivity and provide learning materials more efficiently.

Duolingo also plans to not add human workers unless they can do the job through AI. To teach well, Duolingo needs to create a large amount of content and AI is believed to be able to complete this process faster than it can be done manually.

Although Duolingo insists that they care about their existing employees, this replacement move has raised concerns about possible job losses. The company is also encouraging its employees to focus on creative work, and providing training and guidance to help them use AI in their work processes.

With this approach, Duolingo expresses confidence that AI can help them do more with their existing human workforce. This approach is also believed to be able to pave the way for a more comprehensive use of AI.
