When it was launched last year, many thought that the Android XR operating system would only be used on XR headsets developed in collaboration with Samsung and Qualcomm. But this morning Google revealed that Android XR will be used in four categories of wearable products.
The first category is headsets with see-through video like Project Moohan and the XR headset. The second category is headsets with see-through optical vision like the Microsoft HoloLens. The third category is AR smart glasses with built-in screens like the one being developed with Samsung. While the last category is AI glasses that do not come with a screen on the lenses.
Google says that products for all categories are being developed in collaboration with their partners. The XR headset, AR glasses and smart AI glasses have been shown off. This raises the question of who is developing HoloLens-like headsets for Google?
