Yesterday, a court in the United States banned Apple from blocking in-app payments (IAP) outside the App Store ecosystem. They were also ordered to allow app developers to disclose the existence of alternative payment systems with link buttons, which have been prohibited under App Store guidelines.
Today, Apple's App Store guidelines were updated, with Apple explaining that the two features above can only be offered in the United States market. This is certainly disappointing for developers because many expected the order issued by the judge in Epic Games' lawsuit against Apple to be effective in all markets.
After the order was issued, Epic Games confirmed that they will be offering Fortnite again on Apple's platform as early as next week. Spotify and Patreon have also submitted updated versions of their apps with payment options outside the App Store to Apple.
