Huawei Is Developing Its Own Camera Sensor

Since being subjected to various technological restrictions by the United States, Huawei has been forced to develop its own technology, which has resulted in the devices it offers being less powerful than its competitors. They have slowly recovered and now their status as one of the largest device manufacturers in China has been restored.

Now, reports have emerged that Huawei is developing two of its own camera sensors. The two sensors are codenamed SC5A0CS and SC590XS, possibly for the upcoming Huawei Pura 80 Ultra.

The SC5A0CS is a 1″ 50MP sensor that maintains the RYYB system that Huawei uses to obtain good image quality. A new technology that combines three images into one is also supported by this sensor to provide a better dynamic range than existing systems.

Meanwhile, the SC590XS is believed to be a 50″ 1/1.3″ inc” sensor developed for telephoto lenses. This in-house sensor development may have been done to ensure it is most compatible with the software being developed. It may also be a preparation in case restrictions are imposed that prevent access to Sony and Samsung sensors.
