AMD has introduced its latest AMD Ryzen Z2 series of processor chips for mobile gaming consoles, and so far, it seems that only the Lenovo Legion Go S is using it so far. ASUS is another company that is expected to take advantage of it with their ASUS ROG Ally 2 console, but until now, no details have been revealed.
But what we do know so far is that ASUS will be working with Microsoft to develop a special ROG Ally console with an Xbox theme, and may even use the Xbox OS operating system, making it a mobile console that can play the console's games.
Recently, the design for the ASUS ROG Ally 2 console has reportedly been leaked to the web, and it seems to come in two versions, one that will come with the use of the Windows 11 operating system, and the other, the Xbox version.
There are differences that can be seen in these two models. First, the model that runs Windows 11 comes with a white frame, while the Xbox version is black. Secondly, the Xbox version is also seen to feature a special button to access the Xbox menu, giving people reason to speculate that this console will run the Xbox OS operating system.
The button design on the ROG Ally 2 also shows a slightly different design compared to the original model, especially on the analog control knob. Meanwhile, the frame behind the console's 8-inch screen display is also seen to be thicker.
In terms of specifications, the ASUS ROG Ally 2 seems to come with quite powerful specifications. For now, it is seen as one of the first consoles to use the AMD Ryzen Z2 Extreme processor chip for the black model (Xbox version), while the white model will use the AMD Aerith Plus processor chip, which is a new update to the same processor chip used in the Steam Deck.
ASUS Malaysia has told us that ASUS has no plans to show new products at the COMPUTEX 2025 event, but they will still show the products shown during the CES 2025 event earlier this year. Whether ASUS will show the ROG Ally 2 console at the event is not yet known.
