Play Store Purchases Requesting Someone Else to Pay Feature Expands to Four More Countries

A year ago, the “Ask someone to pay” feature was launched on the Google Play Store, but only in India. Through it, users could ask others to make payments on their behalf by sharing a link via the messaging app. At Google I/O, Google confirmed that the feature has also been introduced in Indonesia, the United States, Japan, and Mexico.

Individuals who receive the message can choose to make a payment on behalf of the requester. Each link in the message will only be usable for 24 hours.

The Ask someone else to pay feature is different from the Family Group leader’s feature of making payments for all family members. Apps purchased through the Family Group can then be shared by all family members.
