Up to 30% of Microsoft Code Now Written by AI

Is the future of human programmers getting bleaker? During the ongoing LlamaCon event, Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella revealed that between 20-30% of the code the company uses is now written by artificial intelligence (AI). This was in response to a question posed to him by Mark Zuckerberg.

Interestingly, when Satya asked Zuckerberg the same question, Meta founder said he didn't know the percentage at his company. But in Dwarkesh Patel's latest podcast, Zuckberg said he sees the majority of code written at Meta in the next 12-18 months for development and Llama research purposes being written by AI.

This statement is in line with the company's vision of replacing human software developers with AI that can do the same tasks but faster.

This is a big change in the world of software development because 30 years ago the late Steve Jobs said that everyone should learn to program computers because it teaches humans to think. If all these tasks are replaced by AI, will future generations no longer have to think.
