Toyota and Waymo are collaborating to advance the development and deployment of self-driving vehicle technology. Also involved in this collaboration is Woven, a Toyota subsidiary that just opened a model city of the future last year.
Toyota has already developed Guardian and Chauffeur technologies that aim for Level 4 self-driving. This existing expertise, when combined with Waymo's experience offering more than 4 million trips in robotaxis, is expected to accelerate the process of producing better self-driving vehicles.
This is another strategic collaboration that Waymo has made with an automaker. Previously, they have also worked with Geely, Volvo and Jaguar to drive the development of self-driving vehicles.
