With NLWeb, Microsoft Wants to Turn All Websites Into AI Applications

At the Microsoft Build event earlier this morning, NLWeb was introduced, which stands for Natural Language Web. Through it, Microsoft says that all websites can be turned into AI applications with the ability to search for page content using natural language, similar to Google Gemini and Copilot search.

NLWeb's open source technology uses Schema.org technology, RSS and various other data systems that are already supported by websites to make searching easier. Unlike AI agents, current website search systems still require precise keywords to provide the content that users are looking for. NLWeb is also designed to allow it to interact with other AI agents. This means that the content of the site can be searched by other AI agents.

NLWeb is still in the testing stage but is already being used by sites such as Tripadvisor, Eventbrite and Shopify.
