General Atomics MQ-9B Drone AEW&C Version Announced

In the Call of Duty game, the Predator drone can be used to launch missiles at the enemy. Since its inception, the MQ drone series has been developed by General Atomics as a weapons platform. At the Paris Air Show today, General Atomics announced the MQ-9B variant with Airborne Early Warning and Control (AEW&C) capabilities.

This variant with AEW&C capabilities was developed in collaboration with Saab. It was specifically developed to offer high-sensing capabilities to defend against aircraft, missiles, drones and various other enemy threats in the field of operations.

In areas that are unsafe for AEW&C aircraft such as the E-2 Hawkeye and E-3 Sentry, the MQ-9B can be flown into the air to perform risky tasks. It can also be launched from the deck of a warship without being accompanied by an aircraft carrier.

General Atomics and Saab target the MQ-9B with AEW&C capabilities to be operational as early as 2026.
