The Google Pixel 9 is the most popular model on the market, but it may be banned in Japan. A Japanese court found that Google infringed on a patent for a device related to LTE communication towers held by Pantech, a South Korean company. Google was found not to have paid a fair price for a license to use this patent.
Google refused to disclose Pixel 7 sales figures and paid a fair royalty. Pantech immediately filed a lawsuit against Google, which also uses the same technology in the Pixel 8 and Pixel 9 series. In patent infringement cases, such issues are very common.
A few years ago, several devices under the BBK Electronics umbrella were withdrawn from the German market due to a lawsuit filed by Nokia. It was later settled out of court by the two companies with new licensing.
