Nintendo Switch 2 Sold 3.5 Million Units Four Days After Launch

The Nintendo Switch 2 console was launched on June 6 in the United States, China, Japan, Canada, South Korea and the UK. Although it has not been officially launched in Malaysia, it can already be purchased at several local online stores at much higher prices.

Nintendo recently announced that 3.5 million Switch 2 units were successfully sold in just four days. This makes the Switch 2 the best-selling console in Nintendo's history. The high sales figure is certainly pleasing for Nintendo because the cumulative sales of PC portable consoles such as Steamdeck and ROG Ally so far are only around 6 million units despite being on the market for more than 3 years.

The Nintendo Switch 2 comes with a 7.9″ LCD screen with a 1080p 120Hz resolution, powered by a special NVIDIA chip that supports DLSS and Ray Tracing, 256GB of storage, and there is a dock that can increase the display to 4K resolution when connected to a TV. Another improvement is the Joy Con which connects using magnets and can be used like a mouse.

In Southeast Asia, the Switch 2 will go on sale in Singapore, Thailand and the Philippines only on June 26. Fans in Malaysia will have to be patient as Nintendo is targeting sales between July and September with the console being tested by SIRIM to pass several local safety standards.
