Oakley Meta HSTN Smart Glasses Launched – 3K Video Recording and 8 Hours of Battery Life

The Oakley Meta HSTN (Howstun) was launched late last night as another pair of smart glasses offered by Meta. It is a smart glasses that targets those who like sports and extreme activities compared to the Ray-Ban Meta which is marketed for everyday use.

The HSTN has several updates such as a 12MP camera on the left eye that can record video at 3K resolution. This is better than only 1080p on the Ray-Ban Meta. An LED light is placed on the right eye so that others can see that they are being recorded.

The camera control button is placed on the right temple which also has a touch sensor to control the strength of the speakers built into both temples of the glasses. There are 5 microphones on each pair of HSTN to provide better audio recording and voice calls.

It is also included so that the Meta AI virtual assistant can listen to voice commands given. These glasses are also capable of identifying objects viewed using Meta AI like the Ray-Ban Meta.

Each HSTN also passes the IPX4 splash-proof standard and has an 8-hour battery life. That’s twice as long as the Ray-Ban Meta. With a storage pod that doubles as a charger, the battery life is extended to 48 hours.

A pair of Oakley Meta HSTN will be available for $399 (~RM 1697) in Warm Grey, Black, Brown Smoke, and Clear and 5 lens options starting this summer. But on July 11, only the Oakley Meta HSTN Desert 24k Prizm Polar Limited Edition will be available for $499 (RM 2122) per pair.

The first markets to receive the glasses are the United States, Canada, United Kingdom, Ireland, France, Italy, Spain, Austria, Belgium, Australia, Germany, Sweden, Norway, Finland, and Denmark. Later this year, they will be available in Mexico, India, and the United Arab Emirates.
