OpenAI has now shared that it has reached $10 billion in annual revenue for this year. This revenue includes the ChatGPT product, as well as the API offering.
This figure was achieved by OpenAI in the three years since ChatGPT was introduced. In addition to this subscription revenue, OpenAI also has revenue through Microsoft that is not included in this $10 billion count.
The recent boom in ChatGPT, including the ability to generate images, has led to more people subscribing to ChatGPT Plus. In fact, OpenAI has recently introduced a programming-focused agent called Codex.
With various new feature introductions, it may make more people subscribe and use ChatGPT's paid service. Despite generating $10 billion, it is targeted that OpenAI is still not generating any profit at the moment.
