Russia Will Develop Its Own Messaging App to Compete with WhatsApp and Telegram

The Russian president has now signed a new law that allows the development of its own messaging app that will be integrated with a number of government services. This app is also expected to be an alternative to popular messaging platforms such as WhatsApp and Telegram.

Russia has previously had several platforms developed and used in their country, thus reducing technological dependence on the West – not to mention the trade sanctions imposed on the country.

Previously, Russia also intended to develop its own console, in addition to producing its own chips, and also having its own app store.
