Vivo has officially launched its latest model, the X Fold 5, in the Chinese market. This device is categorized as the lightest large-sized foldable phone to date with a weight of around 217 grams.
It comes with an 8.03-inch AMOLED main display, supporting 2K+ resolution (2480 × 2200 pixels), a 120Hz refresh rate and a peak brightness level of up to 4500 nits. In addition, this device also features a 6.53-inch secondary screen that offers specifications and features matching its main screen.
Adding to the premium value, both displays support HDR 10+, Dolby Vision and high-frequency PWM technology for a more immersive visual experience. The device's hinge has also been redesigned using a combination of carbon fiber and high-tensile steel for greater strength without compromising the overall weight.
Next, this device is powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chip with up to 16GB of LPDDR5X RAM and 1TB of UFS 4.0 internal storage. It is also equipped with a redesigned antenna system with hinge to improve signal strength and ensure more stable network connections across multiple frequency bands.
Among other interesting features offered is the Atomic Workbench function that allows up to five applications to be run simultaneously in a split-screen view. It is also complete with drag and drop support for a smoother multitasking experience. Interestingly, the device also supports cross-ecosystem integration with Apple devices such as AirPods, Apple Watch, and Mac, which is something rarely found in Android devices.
Its rear camera system features a 50MP tri-sensor setup, including a Sony IMX921 main lens with OIS, an ultra-wide camera, and a periscope lens that supports 3x optical zoom and up to 100x digital zoom. For selfies, a 20MP front camera is provided on both screens.
The device is also equipped with a 6,000mAh Blue Ocean battery that uses fourth-generation silicon anode technology and second-generation semi-solid battery. It supports 80W wired fast charging, 40W wireless fast charging, and reverse charging for other devices. In addition, the device passes IPX8, IPX9, and IPX9+ ratings, making it resistant to fine dust and high-pressure water spray.
