Threads Tests Hiding “Spoilers” in Timeline

Every time a new TV series or movie premieres, I’ll take a few days off social media because someone with a brain will inevitably reveal key plot points without my permission. For spoiler haters, Threads is currently testing a feature to hide content that should be kept secret from being seen in the timeline.

In Threads, users can select phrases they want to hide by selecting the “Mark spoiler” feature. In the timeline, these phrases and images will be blurred out when they appear in the timeline. The implementation in Threads is similar to what Reddit has been using for years, only with animations. The test is being given globally but only to a small number of Threads users.

While this feature is cool, it still requires account holders to manually mark spoilers. If they don’t, it will still be readable by anyone.
