The U.S. Ambassador to Kuala Lumpur, now through his social account at X, informs all individual applicants applying for F, M or J non-immigrant visas, to change their social media account settings to public.
This step is said to be in an effort to facilitate the processing of the visa, in conducting screening and related matters before being allowed to enter the United States.
It is also said that since 2019, the United States has been requiring visa applicants to provide their social media identification on the application form. This step is to facilitate individual screening, and to avoid any threat to the national security of the United States.
