Microsoft reminded Windows 10 users that this outdated operating system will no longer receive updates after October 14, 2025. Then they said that security patches will be extended for a year to customers who pay $30.
Today Microsoft said that a year of update support can be received for free if PC settings data is synchronized to the cloud using the Windows Backup application and a Microsoft account.
This application not only backs up PC settings, but can also be used to back up photos, documents, programs and account login information. The Windows Backup application is already available for download on Windows 10 computers.
For those who still insist on using Windows 10, this free support for a year is only in the form of security patches. Any bugs and issues will no longer be resolved by Microsoft after October 14. According to data at the end of 2024, there are still more than 60% of PCs in the world using Windows 10 even though Windows 11 was launched in 2021.
