Apple today announced that Jeff Williams will retire as Chief Operating Officer this year. In parallel, Apple's design team will begin to transition and report directly to Tim Cook.
The change comes in line with Apple's transition this year to a new Liquid Glass interface design, in addition to which Apple is also said to be looking at new designs for some of its devices.
It is not known for how long the design team will report directly to the Apple CEO. In addition to the internal changes for Apple, they are also facing a number of challenges, including OpenAI planning to come out with its own device, as well as Meta leading the smart glasses arena.
