Kioxia LC9 Updated with 245TB Storage Capacity for Data Center and AI Uses

Fast storage capacity is usually seen to always increase with the advancement of technology, and now, specifically for the data center, machine learning and AI inference segments, Kioxia, a company known for its enterprise-class storage offerings, has updated its Kioxia LC9 storage options with the largest storage offerings to date.

Available in several different format options, the Kioxia LC9 comes with a storage option of 245TB in a single storage. Earlier this year, the Kioxia LC9 was introduced with a storage option of 123TB, and now, the storage amount has been doubled to a larger option.

The Kioxia LC9 storage is seen to come in two different designs, 2.5-inch and EDSFF (Enterprise and Datacenter Standard Form Factor) E3.L and can be used in data centers focused on machine learning and AI inference, especially generative AI that requires faster data read and write rates.

Speaking of which, the Kioxia LC9 storage uses PCIe 5.0 data transmission technology, with the 245TB storage option showing a data read rate of 12GB/s and a data write rate of 3GB/s.

There is a slight gap between these two rates because ensuring the integrity of the data transmission signal on this size of storage is very important, and therefore, the data write speed is not very fast compared to some other data center storage. In the meantime,

The Kioxia LC9 storage with a capacity of 245TB consists of 2Tb 3D QLC memory chips stacked 32 layers to produce a NAND package with a capacity of 8TB. These 30 NAND packages are then combined to produce the 245TB storage.

The Kioxia LC9 storage with a capacity of 245TB is currently being tested by certain customers, and will be shown during the Future of Memory and Storage 2025 event in the United States in early August.
