Installing anti-virus software is a must if you use a PC. At the very least, Windows Defender is activated and updated regularly to ensure security. But now some researchers are ready to reveal malware with artificial intelligence (AI) that is developed to avoid being detected by anti-virus software.
A group of security researchers calling themselves Outflank plans to show off their AI-powered malware at the Black Hat 2025 event in August. According to Outflank, they trained an AI model based on the Qwen 2.5 model developed by Alibaba for three months. In tests conducted so far, the malware with the AI they developed was able to avoid detection by Windows Defender with a success rate of 8%.
A low percentage but higher than 1% when using the Anthropic model and only 0.5% when using the DeepSeek model. Outflank is conducting further AI training to make their malware even harder to detect by anti-virus software.
